Wilmington, DE – Stadium Journey magazine has ranked Frawley Stadium 47th on its annual list of the 101 Best Stadium Experiences in sports.  The ranking places the Wilmington Blue Rocks home ballpark ahead of some of the most renowned stadiums and arenas in all of sports.

The list includes notable stadiums such as Fenway Park (Boston Red Sox),Wrigley Field (Chicago Cubs) and Notre Dame Stadium (Notre Dame football), with Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis (home of the Colts) receiving top-billing. Frawley Stadium out-ranked notable sporting venues like The Staples Center (Los Angeles Kings) and AT&T Park (San Francisco Giants).  The list ranks the Blue Rocks as the eighth-best stadium experience in Minor League Baseball.

According to a press release issued by Stadium Journey, the publication: "utilizes its FANFARE scale for ranking the stadiums on its website and for the purposes of creating this list." The scale is based on the overall atmosphere of the stadium, the food & beverage available, the neighborhood in which it resides, the fans, access outside and inside the stadium, return on investment, and allows room for "bonus points" for unique features. The Magazine uses reviews submitted by more than 80 contributors.

In their blurb about Frawley Stadium, the folks at Stadium Journey wrote: "Mr. Celery is worth the price of admission, not so much for him as for the crowd's reaction to him.  Everything from tickets to food and drink is fairly priced."

Assistant General Manager Andrew Layman, who is as involved as anyone in the day-to-day operations of Frawley Stadium, said it was an honor to be recognized alongside some of the great stadiums in American sports.

"We work hard to make this a place where families can relax and enjoy spending time together while watching a game," Layman said.  "While we may not host some of the events the other stadiums on this list do, we strive to provide as much enjoyment for our fans, so to be recognized by a national publication as one of the top 50 stadiums in the country is certainly very gratifying for this organization and hopefully for the entire state of Delaware."

The Blue Rocks begin their 2013 season on April 5 in Myrtle Beach.  After a six-game road trip, the Rocks return to Wilmington for the home opener on Friday, April 12 at 7:05 p.m.  Group tickets and mini plans for the 2013 campaign are on sale now by visiting bluerocks.com.
