Description
The Battle of Chestnut Neck framed print measures 12 x 36 inches and is ready to be hung.
Chestnut Neck was the largest and most active seaport on the South Jersey coast, until its destruction by British forces on October 6, 1778. Many local settlers were seafaring men. When the war began, some secured Letter's of Marque from the Continental Congress. This gave them the right to arm and equip privately owned vessels to attack British shipping and confiscate cargos. The practice of Privateering was an accpted internaitonal custom.
Generously donated by the Col. Richard Somers Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
