Description

"Spring" was created by Memphis artist, Mary Cour Burrows using beeswax graphite and pigment on plaster coated panel. The panel is 100 plus year old heart pine from a dismantled factory in North Carolina.  The cradle supporting the panel is made from 50 year old cyprus fence boards from the artist's family farm.

Mary specializes in sculpture and ceramics.  She has created several pieces of art for the community. Some of her work can be seen at the LeBonheur Children's Hospital, Memphis Botanic Gardens, St. George's Independent School, the Lichterman Nature Center and the Tennessee Environmental Commission.
