BACKGROUND: A historic night of space disco comes as a gift from the heavens thanks to Red Bull Music Academy. In his first dj appearance ever in New York, disco inventor and cultural icon Giorgio Moroder plays a set of classics. We've seen his set list already, and the music he's selected represents some of the best of his legendary career.

GIORGIO MORODER BIO: Italian born Moroder spent his early years in music touring Europe playing the bass and guitar in mostly pop-oriented ensembles. He eventually teamed up with Pete Bellotte and produced the seventeen-minute "Love to Love You Baby" performed by Donna Summer. That song is credited with starting the popular disco craze around the world. Moroder has worked with many of the most famous names in music including Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Cher, Roger Daltrey, Janet Jackson, Freddy Mercury, David Bowie, Chaka Khan, Miami Sound Machine, Cheap Trick, RuPaul, and Pat Benatar. And among his hit singles are Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" and "I Feel Love," Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone," David Bowie's "Putting Out the Fire" and Blondie's "Call Me." His many film scores include three Academy Award winners. The first came for his score to the powerful film Midnight Express. Next recognized was Irene Cara's inspirational hit, "Flashdance," from the film of the same title. And then the highly romantic song, "Take My Breath Away" from the film, Top Gun, brought his third Academy Award. Not surprisingly, compositions by Giorgio have also contributed to numerous other hit films such as The Never Ending Story, American Gigolo, Cat People, Superman III, Scarface, Rambo III, and Beverly Hills Cop II. In 1998, he received his third Grammy for the song "Carry On," performed by Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder, among countless other awards and honors. He has also been involved in other film and video projects. Giorgio produced a documentary for German television titled, The World in Which We Live, and he restored Fritz Lang's classic silent film, Metropolis, enhancing it with beautiful music in the process.

FRANCOIS K. BIO Franois K. is revered as the co-creator of New York Citys legendary dance party Body&SOUL. He tours worldwide for not only his soulful house dj sets, but also for his techno and dub mixes. Over the years he performed regularly at Studio 54, Paradise Garage, The Loft, Ministry of Sound, Sound Factory Bar, Twilo, Roxy and Club Yellow in Japan, to name a few. In great demand, Franois has gone into the studio to produce/remix recordings by Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Jimmy Cliff, Underworld, Eurythmics, Bunny Wailer, U2, Ashford & Simpson with Maya Angelou, the Smiths, Dido, Finley Quaye, Diana Ross, Cure, Mick Jagger, Fishbone, Talvin Singh, D Train, Erasure, Yazoo, Black Uhuru, Thomas Dolby, and Jah Wobble. In 2005 Franois was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame.

BENJAMIN DAMAGE BIO Benjamin Damage is an electronic producer who lives precariously between Wales, London and Berlin. It began with the raw energy fueled 'Maximum Carnage' mixtapes with DJ Venom, mixing up Bassline/Niche rhythms with the emerging UK Funky sound. Following this was the insanely catchy 'Deeper' for Doc Daneeka's Ten Thousand Yen label which was perhaps the true beginning of the 'Deep Rave' sound. Following the success of Deeper came the brilliantly diverse 4 track solo EP 'Antidote'. Featuring haunting melodies, intricate rhythms and vicious bass, the record was supported by the likes of Jackmaster, Sinden and Seb Chew and received radio play on Rinse FM and Radio 1. 'Creeper' - the first collaboration with Doc Daneeka, moved the 'Deep Rave' sound on further into the beautiful and unexplainable. Sent directly to Modeselektor on New Years Eve, it saw a huge San Francisco audience into 2011 that very night and was promptly signed the next day onto their '50 Weapons' label. With the B side 'Infamous' complete, the duo were shipped out to a huge studio in central Berlin to write an album, which is scheduled for release on '50 Weapons' in January 2012.

T. WILLIAMS BIO T.Williams sits at the forefront of a group of UK producers kneading their influences into what he describes as a rejuvenation of the UK garage sound, but in the form of house music. Both his own productions and the music he plays on his Rinse FM show bear the hallmarks of house four-to-the-floor rhythms, momentum that ebbs and flows across the course of a DJ set but fused with traits that are distinctly London in nature: rawness, sub-bass pressure, swung and syncopated rhythms. DEEP SPACE: Deep Space, is an adventure into future dub, spacey vibes, and abstract grooves featuring resident DJ Franois K. live on the mixing board with special guests. Since the partys launch in 2003, Deep Space has featured a whos who of well known and then emerging artists from around the world representing a stunning array of musical styles that Deep Space is known for integrating into its open minded aesthetic. While the mission of Deep Space remains committed to sharing a love of dub, a vast, under-appreciated musical direction, the party has invited a great range of guest artists to share their creative dub mixing approaches to all things spacey, psychedelic and mind-bending.
