PS11 Young Artists - Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Harmony"

Halla Elias' PS11 Young Artists class was inspired by the works of Jackson Pollock, who some consider the founder of the abstract expressionist movement. She asked her students to think of an emotion and paint it, but they were challenged to do so without touching the canvas just like Jackson Pollock. Five students collaborated on this final group project entitled, Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Harmony. The student artists created this well balanced piece by working together as a team. Each child took on one of the five elements and were told to paint as if they were that element. This meant a lot of flying paint, dirty shoes, and an unhappy janitor, but we think youll agree it produced some amazing art.
