Description
Looking for a great place to spend the summer? Camp Intrepid (www.intrepidmuseum.org) incorporates the science and history of sea, air, space and life at sea, with fun and adventure that can’t be beat! Ever wonder why some things float and some sink? What really lives in the Hudson River? What connection does the Intrepid have with NASA? As Intrepid campers, you’ll discover the answers to these and many more questions as you explore the Intrepid and unlock its secrets.
Appropriate for campers ages 5-13 years old. Choose a week between June 17 - August 23, 2013. Enjoy hands-on interactive exhibits of sea, air, space and life at sea in the Exploreum. Weekly outdoor highlights include: Ship Shape relays, obstacle courses, crew training exercises and a boat ride on Circle Line's "Beast"! Ship exploration, conversations with former crew members and "behind the scenes" tours are all part of the week at Camp Intrepid. Campers also take part in project-based inquiry - how inventions work, making and cooking with solar ovens, creating and launching straw rockets and investigating secret codes. Celebrate the Intepid's new acquisition, the shuttle Enterprise, at its new home in the Space Shuttle Pavillion and explore the world of space, space travel and the future of space investigation.
