This decoy is in mint-condition, a life-size replica of a mallard. The noted California Waterfowl decoy maker, Joe "Puggy" Freitas made the decoy from redwood and this one is signed by Joe on the bottom.

Joe Freitas is considered one of the best decoy carvers in the Western United States. He is featured in the book "Wildfowl Decoys of the Pacific Coast" by Miller and Hansen. Today, in his eighties, Joe still lives in his Rio Vista home where he enjoys talking about decoy making with friends and visitors.
