Description

What if you were a thousand times smaller, about the size of an ant? Walking down the hall would take days! What if you shrank down another thousand times and became the size of a cell crawling up the ant's leg? Moving just a couple of millimeters would take hours! Now imagine if you were one thousand times smaller than the cell and you could see everything the cell is made of. You are now in the world of nanotechnology! Interested in learning more? Come and tour the world-renowned, cutting-edge Therapeutic Micro and Nanotechnology Lab led by Nueva Mom and Professor Tejal Desai. She'll show you how her bioengineering team is developing new ways to give people medicine or help them regrow parts of their organs. From developing a nanoporous biocapsule to slow release medicine to designing a material that can be injected after a heart attack to improve healing, you will go inside the clean room to have a try at building structures so small that if you put one on top of a speck of dust, it would look just like you standing in the middle of an entire football stadium! If you have an interest in bio-nanotechnology or just want to learn more, this tour is for you! Tour is for six children (ages six and older). No more than two parent chaperones please. This is a Count-Me-In event. $175 per student. Only 6 spots available online.

Special Instructions

Tour will most likely take place in fall 2013 on a mutually agreeable date.
