Chrysanne Stathacos: "Love" Photograph

Item Number: 384
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
The phrase "True Patriot Love" is familiar to anyone who knows Canada’s national anthem. The words were transformed into a giant haiku flower poem by Chrysanne Stathacos during Toronto's 2010Nuit Blanche event. The three words formed different configurations as they floated in a water-filled pond the night of the event. This item offers bidders the chance to own a digital photo proof of "Love."
Shambhala Sun editor Andrea Miller recently spoke with Ms. Stathacos about her work.
Originally trained as a print-maker, Chrysanne Stathacos brings together printmaking, photography, video, and installation in various ways, often creating participatory public art projects. Her installations bring into conversation ritual, feminism, technology and environmental issues to create works that investigate the enduring human processes of change, hope, and healing.
Ms. Stathacos is a founding Director and President of Dongyu Gatsal Ling Initiatives, an organization that works to reclaim the lost traditions of Tibetan women practitioners by supporting an emerging movement of female monastic communities in India and Tibet.
