Description

Dr. Andrew Baker, COO and Vice President for Animal Programs at Philadelphia Zoo, will lead a tour for up to 10 people of the Rare Animal Conservation Center and ground-breaking PECO Primate Reserve, the Philadelphia Zoo's two primate facilities. The Zoo's primate collection includes more than 20 species, among them a number of rarely-exhibited species, including Coquerel's sifaka and the critically endangered pied tamarin. Dr. Baker's dissertation work focused on the social ecology of golden lion tamarins in Brazil. He is a former curatorial intern at the NZP, and has been active in many AZA programs, e.g. as Chair of the New World Primate Taxon Advisory group. Tour includes admission and free parking. Please note: participants cannot go behind the scenes.
