About Northeastern Husky Baseball Camp:

This will be the 25th year of Coach Neil McPhee’s Northeastern Summer Baseball Camp. The camp has become a must for Little League age players in Brookline and surrounding towns. It is a camp that produces one of the most “FUN” baseball experiences for players and also offers fundamental drills in learning how to play our national pastime! The camp is co-ed and open to all players from ages 6 – 12.

The unique aspect of the camp is the use of the Incrediball in all games and most drills. Coach McPhee believes the Incrediball allows players to play fast and aggressive on every play because it takes all “fear” out of the “bad hop.” The Incrediball is a Nylon stitched ball that plays as fast as the baseball and creates a fun atmosphere, which is competitive, and produces “incredible” action that players love!! The other aspect of the camp that produces a “real” baseball atmosphere is Friedman Diamond’s all Field Turf surface, which is divided into 4 LL fields, all with fences. Beautiful artificial Green “grass,” No Bad Hops, No Slide Burns, Safe & Fun!

All players are given a locker in our air conditioned club house, and there is never a “rain day” rain out. If inclement weather, the coaches drive players in university vans to our indoor athletic facility on campus, Cabot Center. Cabot is also an all Field Turf facility where we can produce “mini games” and drills, just like at Friedman Diamond.

The coaching staff is made up of college and high school coaches, as well as NU players. Full time medical staff also is on site. Please come and join the generations of Brookline kids who have loved our camp for 25 years!

Director:
NU Head Coach Neil McPhee

The 2012 season marked Husky skipper Neil McPhee’s 27th as head coach at Northeastern, the second longest tenure as coach, behind only McPhee’s own coach John “Tinker” Connelly. McPhee has guided the Huskies to an amazing 18 winning seasons and postseason appearances in 15 of the last 18.

In total, McPhee has seen 14 of his players drafted by Major League teams over the last 12 seasons. In 2010, Charly Bashara signed with the Milwaukee Brewers organization as a non-drafted free agent. Bashara was one of two Brewers prospects selected to the 2010 Arizona League All-Star team, after posting a league-best 2.37 ERA, while leading the Brewers with five wins and 64 strikeouts.
8 years.

McPhee has an excellent history of developing top prospects, including Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Carlos Pena. Pena had a career year in 2007, in which he was named the American League Comeback Player of the Year and received the American League Silver Slugger Award at first base. He was critical during the Rays’ 2008 World Series run and won the 2008 Gold Glove Award for his play at first base. Pena was a two-year letterman under McPhee from 1997-98 and was selected by the Texas Rangers with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 1998 MLB Draft. He is the highest drafted player in any sport at Northeastern.

About Mason and Glavine

Both Mason and Glavine were superb players at Northeastern in the 1990s and played on championship teams during that time. Mason was the catcher and captain of the 1996 and 1997 teams and played in the NCAA Tournament in 1994 and 1997. Glavine played first base and captained the 1995 team and also played on the 1994 NCAA Tournament team. Glavine, who is the brother of 10-time All-Star Tom Glavine of the New York Mets, was recently inducted into the Northeastern University Hall of Fame.
