The Time Square 2007 Hope for Peace Ornament is part of the Times Square Collection, which began in 1999, when Waterford was invited to design and create the Times Square New Year's Eve Millennium Ball for New York City. The "Star of Hope" theme of 2000 inspired Waterford artists to create subsequent designs exemplifying hope for the realization of mankind's most profound ambitions. Peace has been skillfully interpreted for the Times Square Collection by Waterford artisans. The "Hope for Peace" crystal pattern is captured by a dove-like symbolic angel with arms arched in a gesture of prayer. Angels, as well as doves, are often seen as messengers of peace and Waterford's hope was that this dove-like angel will bring tidings of good news, joy and peace.
