Have you ever wondered what California was like when it was considered the Serengeti of North America? Join us for a full day retreat to the beautiful Northern Central Valley and learn about it's important place in the migration of millions of birds every year as well as it's current significant role in growing food for the world. We'll visit a private wetland ranch that was previously a rice farm and is now an actively managed wetland and upland grass habitat that provides maximum food and shelter for waterfowl, migratory shorebirds, raptors, and songbirds as well as mammals including the endangered river otter. We'll tour the ranch by off road vehicles, boats and on foot and enjoy a delicious lunch while overlooking the sanctuary. Early afternoon we'll head over to one of the original organic farms in the Capay Valley for a full farm tour followed by a lovely Farm-to-Table dinner in their stunning orchard.
