She is timeless and ageless. She is universal. The familiar female figure used throughout Bellet's work is symbolic of his impression of femininity. She represents all women, and for this reason has no facial expression. This ethereal woman, dressed in red never ceases to draw you into her dreamlike world. Emile Bellet was French artist, who had numerous exhibits in prominent places in France. He was a self-taught artist who aligned himself with a school of artists who lived at the turn of the twentieth century, which included Matisse and Cezanne.
