Description

Robert Parker - 97 points. You don't see that every day.

Dessert wine is unquestionably one of life's pleasures, unless you have it with cheese as an appetizer in which case it is still one of life's pleasures, just a little earlier in the meal.

This lot includes 2 bottles of white dessert wine - one French and one from California. The French wine is a half bottle of 2003 Rieussec sauternes. The California bottle is the famous (and rare) 2001 Mr. K The Nobleman, made by Sine Qua Non's M. Krankl, and the late Alois Kracher.

In giving this wine 97 points, Robert Parker noted: "The 2001 Mr. K The Noble Man (321 grams per liter of residual sugar and 10.25 grams per liter of acidity) is made from 100% botrytised Chardonnay. Its medium gold color is followed by a wine with honeyed complexity, and huge body, sweetness, and thickness. This effort is never as complex or focused as its siblings, but it is still a phenomenal sweet wine that can stand on its own merits against any great sweet wine made in the world."

Yum.
