The Andaz experience begins the moment you arrive through the bronze-colored doors on 41st Street and are greeted by an Andaz Host. Have a drink in the lounge while checking in via handheld PC, or simply en-route to your room. Arrival is at your pace, your style. The interior of Andaz 5th Avenue is designed by Tony Chi, inspired by New York City. The Tonychi & Associates principal used a muted color palette, natural materials like poplar and basalt, open spaces, residential-style furniture, and exposed ceilings to turn the structure into a stylish playground featuring 184 rooms, a restaurant, terraced event space, library, and cellar bar. Starting at 322-square feet, the guestrooms, 36 of which are suites, feature 12-foot ceilings, double-glazed windows, and polished travertine bathrooms enclosed with black-washed poplar shutters. Six of the suites have terraces overlooking the library’s dignified façade while the largest, at 1,779-square-feet, boasts views of both the Hudson and East rivers. The ground and second floors are open spaces; a façade of floor-to-ceiling glass framed in limestone echoes the library across the street. The spaces might remind you of the city on a rainy day or the moment right before dawn breaks when the streets are silent, and New York is all yours. Subject to availability.
