Special Instructions

Born in November 19, 1831, in what is now known as Moreland Hills, OH, James A. Garfield was sworn in as President on March 4, 1881.   Four months later,  Garfield was shot by a disappointed officer seeker and died on Sept. 19, 1881, two months shy of his 50th birthday.  Dedicated in 1890, the James A. Garfield Monument in Lakeview Cemetary is the final resting place of our 20th president.  To learn more about President Garfield,  you can visit his birthplace, home and final resting place all in one day.   Go Cleveland.
