Learn to preserve food at home the healthy way, via fermentation. Whether you grow your own vegetables or buy them at the store, you can make delicious, nutritious new things, and avoid "a compost bin full of regrets." Fermentation maven Alex Lewin, author of book Real Food Fermentation and blog Feed Me Like You Mean It, will show you how in a hands-on workshop. We'll have plenty of seasonal produce on hand, but you can bring fresh fruit and vegetables from your garden to preserve. Attendees will go home with two jars of food to watch over as the fermentation magic takes place. September 8, 2013, 2:00-4:00 pm. $35 per person, limit 10 adults.
