A?A?Our Pinot Gris vines are spur-pruned and bi-lateral cordon trained, the Fossil Canyon vineyard manager tells us. A?The vines, on average, are between 13 and 16 years old, with vine rows running east to west along a gentle slope. TheyâA?A?re planted in a high-density row spacing with vertically positioned shoots. What does all that mean? That much care was taken not only in matching the variety to the site, but also to maximizing sun exposure for the vines and grapes --A?A? a key to reliable ripening from growing season to growing season.
