Did you know that the Three Springs Nature Preserve near Sister Bay is home to one of the largest monitored bat nursery colonies in Wisconsin?  Door County Land Trust volunteer naturalist Marilyn Hansotia is a citizen bat monitor. She will lead a group of up to eight to the Three Springs Nature Preserve to view the evening exit of hundreds of little brown bats and their pups from their roost in the preserve’s historic barn. She’ll explain just why we’re working to protect their habitat. (One clue: these little creatures are responsible for gobbling up nearly 1000 mosquitoes an hour!)  Begin or end the evening with two extra-large, three topping pizzas from Joe Jo’s Pizza and Gelato in north Ephraim.  Expires 9/30/2014. Prime bat-viewing season is end of July.
