The Tonight Show has a long, successful history - and it shows no signs of cooling off. It started its run almost 50 years ago, back in 1954. Steve Allen was the first host. He was succeeded by Jack Paar in 1957, and Johnny Carson took over the reins in 1962. Johnny was the "King of Late Night" for 30 years, until he retired in 1992. Jay Leno has been the host since then. Over three million people have sat in the studio audience and enjoyed the show, and you can be a part of that history.
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno is taped at NBC Studios in "beautiful downtown Burbank" - as Johnny Carson used to say. Burbank is located on the west side of the the San Fernando Valley, just a few miles northeast of Universal Studios Hollywood.
