Description
We would like to invite you to join us in a meaningful and engaging service opportunity that your children will never forget! On a minimum day in November, your La Entrada student will board a bus and head to San Francisco to serve the students of the San Francisco City Academy, a K-8 school that was founded to serve some of the poorest kids in the city. The Academy, which survives predominantly on sponsorships for their students, exists to transform lives in the Tenderloin Community by breaking the cycle early of poverty, violence and addiction through educating and empowering children to overcome those obstacles. The children, all of whom are underprivileged and many of whom are behind their grade levels when enrolled, are offered a private, personal, and self-paced education that allows them to excel and develop in every area of life including: educational, physical, emotional, spiritual, leadership, family, and the arts. La Entrada students will plan fun games and activities, lead art projects, and tutor Academy students throughout the afternoon. LE students will depart from La Entrada at 11:45 and return to campus at 3:45. Lunch and project materials are included.
