The children in Ms. Vatkina's class created a cookbook, serving platter and apron. Using their cultures and traditions as inspiration, each student picked a recipe important to their family.The collection of recipes is accompanied by pictures of the students cooking their recipe, their self-portraits and their interviews about their cooking experience. One lucky family will also take home a platter with the cookbook. To create this platter each student wrote their name on the back of the plate and placed their thumbprint on the top of it. The platter was finished with the PS 199 Apple, commemorating the school's 50th year, surrounded by the student's thumbprints finished as balloons. A child size apron decorated with the children's artwork completes this one-of-a-kind package.
