Description
17th Annual Flynn Garden Tour Garden Tour Features Shelburne Surprises
Gardens so wildly unlike each other that altogether they demonstrate a full range of horticultural lifestyles, including a:
- Spacious, comfortable home and gardens on eight acres along the LaPlatte River that has everything for a growing family: from poolside gardens and rambling plant-filled porches to woodland walks and a charming playhouse.
- Sophisticated contemporary landscape that earned a prestigious national landscape architecture award;
- Japanese inspired contemplative gardens whose creation is nothing short of prayer, and visiting them is a walking meditation.
These are just three of a half dozen private gardens in Shelburne that will open to ticket-holders for just one day – Sunday, July 14. Also, at least a dozen experts and artists and many of the gardeners themselves will be on hand to talk about a wide range of topics including landscape design, native perennials, the origins of vegetables, flower arranging and beekeeping. At tour's end, everyone will gather for tea, a raffle and the camaraderie of fellow gardeners.
Tickets include: self-guided tours, garden-side talks, artists painting outdoors and the tea.
