"The Wild Side" By Bellavid 16 x20
Scratchboard is English art. It came to this county at the turn of the century. The etchings are done on specially prepared paper. The black ink is baked on over a white chalk or clay surface. A very sharp knife or needlepoint is used to etch out the lines. The completed drawing is sealed and hand painted with watercolor. Then sealed a 2nd time and background painted with an airbrush. A third and final seal is applied giving the picture a 3-D look. Since no two etchings are alike, each is a unique piece.
