Ivan N. Kamalic (1944-2011) gained a reputation as a passionate observer with a keen ability to translate nature onto canvas. A plein air painter of scenes local, New England and of the New York tri-state area, his works also include paintings from his travels outside the United States including Italy and Croatia.
In the tradition of Renaissance artists, his art education began early in
his teens. His apprenticeships included extensive work in stone carving and mural painting in Italy.
An experienced instructor and winner of many awards, his work is included in over 900 private collections in the United States and abroad.
The Yugoslavian-born Kamalic made the United States his home, fleeing the communist regime in place at the time, and he served his new country during the Vietnam War.
Cape Ann was his home for many decades. His Main Street gallery, still in operation, has been in operation for more than 25 years.
This giclee is of Front Beach in Rockport.
