Description
Harry Siter is inspired by nature and how humans fit into the cosmic mix. He reflects on our history on Earth and how our relationship with nature has shaped our legacy over millions of years. What have we lost? What have we gained? These are some of the questions he asks as he encounters the materials he will use for his art. Siter has a deep appreciation for how scale can create balance between mass and gravity. For him, the idea that a large piece of art can be light on its feet is magical, much like our existence on Earth. His work was recently included in the Bedford Gallerys Larger Than Life: Exploring Scale in Contemporary Art. The piece in our On Broadway auction is titled "Faux Fur". Siters works are included in numerous collections around the world, including the di Rosa Preserve in Napa. Reviews of his art can be found in magazines including Vogue, House Beautiful and Surface. He has exhibited his work in solo shows in Oakland, San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma, and has been a part of group exhibitions in Los Angeles, Miami, Maine, and the Bay Area.
