Description
Does your child have developmental, medical or sensory impairments? An occupational therapy evaluation will help you identify if a treatment plan would benefit your child.
At a therapy connection, their occupational therapists (OTs) provide therapeutic intervention for individuals demonstrating developmental, medical, or sensory impairment.
With occupational therapy, children can learn to work and play successfully with their families, at their school or daycare, and in their community. a therapy connection provides an eclectic approach to Occupational Therapy whereby each child can feel comfortable, safe, and secure in his/her own home environment. This approach enables the child to develop physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Their OTs can also provide therapy at your daycare, private school, after school program, and other community settings. a therapy connection serves the population ranging from birth to 21 years of age. They work with doctors, schools, other therapists, and agencies to ensure that your child has the maximum benefits so that everyone involved has a complete understanding of your child’s needs. They provide an individualized plan of care using standardized evaluation procedures in order to treat your child the way he/she deserves!
The "occupation" in Occupational Therapy refers to the activities and tasks that we do everyday. "Occupations" of a child include playing with friends, being a student, helping at home, eating, taking care of pets, getting dressed, and participating in hobbies and sports. Occupational Therapists assist individuals having physical, cognitive, sensory, motor and/or psychological disabilities by helping them master the skills needed for self-care, work, and play.
The focus of Occupational Therapy is to identify what underlying skills are needed to help each individual child and then address those specific needs. By actively engaging children in everyday activities that are important to them, Occupational Therapy can then promote physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional health in the child. The main goal of a learning connection is to assist your child in achieving those underlying skills that he needs to make him more independent within his own environment.
