The Zohar, Pritzker Edition, Volume 7, Translation and Commentary by Daniel C. Matt, Stanford University Press. Sefer ha-Zohar (The Book of Radiance) has amazed readers ever since it emerged in medieval Spain over seven hundred years ago. Written in lyrical Aramaic, this masterpiece of Kabbalah exceeds the dimensions of a normal book; it is virtually a body of mystical literature, comprising over twenty discrete section. The bulk of the Zohar consists of a mystical interpretation of the Torah, from Genesis through Deuteronomy. This seventh volume of the Zohar: Pritzker Edition consists of commentary on more than half the book of Leviticus.
The Kabbalah in Art and Architecture by Alexander Gorlin, Pointed Leaf Press. This book is a personal interpretation of the Kabbalh as a source of evocative ideas that have either inspired or are illustrated by, signiifcant works of art and architecture. The idea of esotericJewish mysticism have a place at the table of contemporary art has been raised previously but not in the comprehensive manner presented here.
