Description

This fabulous vase is 11" high by 5.5" in diameter. Signed and dated 1997 by Nancy Weiss, a Seattle artist who studied at Pilchuck Glass Blowing School and whose work is found in private collections around the country.

The vase is entitled "Ribbon Series #3" and described in the Pilchuck School Glass Auction catalog from 1998 as "A green, blown glass vessel with zanfirico cane". Donors to the Lilith auction  purchased this vase at the Pilchuck School Glass Auction in 1998. The artist's value was $700 at that time.

Here is the beginning of an article from wikipedia about the zanfirico cane technique:  Caneworking is a glassblowing technique that is used to add intricate patterns and stripes to vessels or other blown glass objects. Cane refers to rods of glass with color; these rods can be simple, containing a single color, or they can be complex and contain many strands of multiple colors in pattern.
