"Here we have the finest area of the Santenot appellation, in former days classified as 'tte de cuve' by Doctor Lavalle. Facing east, on shallow, red, heavy clay soil, above a subsoil of hard limestone, a very sunny spot and very early to ripen. The wines are deep in color, rich, deep tannins are present, but lovely and elegant on the end of the palate. Black fruit aromas dominate: blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry. More powerful than most of the Volnays, it is a wine to keep for a long time." Winemaker's notes.
