Description

I graduated from college with my BFA in drawing and ceramics and my minor in Zoology and Anthropology. For the past 7 years I have come full circle back to art and have been actively proceeding ahead where I left off.  I joined two cooperative galleries, Core New Art Space in the art district on Santa Fe Drive and Pirate Gallery in the Rhino district.  This gives me the opportunity of having two big shows a year.  I have been in numerous juried shows and invitational shows in Colorado and nationally.  FESTIVALS: Cherry Creek Arts Festival 2009, 2012, 2014 and Art Students League Summer Art Mart (SAM) 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014. PUBLICATIONS: Somerset Studios, Cloth Paper & Scissors, Steam Punk Art and a segment on HGTV.

Special Instructions

My paintings are meant to provoke thought and ask questions metaphorically as to the exact nature of the situation at hand. These unique creatures are presented as plainly unsympathetic--they are who they are. They exist, comically and occasionally horrifically, with and without cuteness. My work represents quietly disturbing yet familiar metaphors.  This painting is done with addition and subtraction using black and white. I do this by starting with a black background. I draw in the outline of the main figure, and begin to use white the block in areas leaving shadows in black, after the effect I wanted was achieved I used subtle color glazes over the black and white.
