Elsa Hummel is originally from Germany and is a retired school teacher.  The author of a book, Home at Last, she is a mother of four and grandmother of 10.

The mask represents passages in the artist's book, Home at Last:  Mother's roses, sailboat rescue, granny's vineyard and a trip to -- and life in -- America. After many hardships, there's music again.
