Artist Sandy Toland has been a self-employed artist for the last 25 years, creating and exhibiting her fine art and doing commissioned art for residential, business and government clients. Her studio is located in Northwest Denver at 3609 West 49th Avenue. About the mask: This "Sun Face" mask was created by draping a slab of damp clay over the slip cast mask provided for the artist and pressing textures into the slab. It was fired in a pit in the ground with organic materials which, when they burned, gave off fumes that colored the clay.
