Description

Kim Anderson is a multi-media and ceramic artist from Denver, CO. She studied at The College of Santa Fe, New Mexico and then Metropolitan State College of Denver where she graduated with a BFA in 1994, and she is currently a member of Artuvus Studio Co-Op. Her work has been in many galleries and group exhibits, and, in addition, she co-owned Id Gallery from 2009-2012, where she curated shows along with showing her own work. She continues to show work in various Denver galleries, her work often influenced by primitive cultures, folk art and religious iconography. Kim's work often combines humor and whimsy but simultaneously imparts an underlying darkness. This piece is comprised of simple, primitive paint/drawn colors and lines with small, added components of ceramic sculpture and stained glass. The title, "Multiplicity," refers to how every individual person, every face, is complex--with multiple thoughts, emotions and personas existing in them all at once. One person may see someone one way, while another sees them entirely differently. We may feel a certain emotion with someone and the complete opposite with someone else. Nothing is ever "black and white" as a human being.
