Ted Parks is an artist, inventor and orthopedic surgeon living in Denver. His work in joint replacement, shoulder surgery and arthroscopic knee reconstruction has earned him a spot on 5280 magazine's list of Denver's top doctors 9 years in a row. While an undergraduate at Stanford University, and later as a medical student at Yale, he developed abilities as a portrait artist, sculptor and mechanic. His most ambitious art project is the all-original sports car he will complete this year. Like his 2008 entry, this mask demonstrates that beneath the beauty of what we all see on the surface, there are complex and fascinating systems working in ways that we are just starting to understand.
