As President and CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, Kelly Brough represents nearly 3,000 businesses in the metro area. Passionate about putting more Coloradans to work, Brough has helmed the Chamber since 2009. Prior to joining the Chamber, Brough served as chief of staff or Mayor John Hickenlooper, overseeing a general fund of $857 million. Brough has been named one of the most powerful people in Denver by 5280 Magazine and was featured as one of Colorado's 10 most influential women by The Denver Post. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation and Visit Denver; the Graduate School - Bioscience Advisory Board for University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus; and the Corporate Board of Delta Dental.
Kelly says, "I asked my mom to paint the mask for me shortly after completing 'Ride the Rockies' this year. My brother suggested that mom incorporate a bike into the mask, and she took it from there. Her work has captured the essence of why I ride--the seamless connection between man and nature and the absolute beauty of Colorado. As you can see, my mom continues to devote herself to helping her children achieve our dreams. She is an incredible artist, mother, grandmother, business owner and friend. I love you, Mom!"
About the Artist: Carol graduated from high school, was married, had two children and was widowed -- all by the age of 23. Every choice she made was about her children, so instead of pursuing her passion for art, she supported her family as a mail carrier in Montana. When she did have time for art, she took advantage of those moments by painting with oils, acrylics and water colors. She did pen and ink drawings, also producing art with silverware, old wood, leather and leaves along with making jewelry and working with pottery.
