Description

Colette Brooks is native to Colorado and her artist journey so far has been innocent, delightful, challenging, insightful, awakening, and hopeful.  Her art was not a focus for many years while working to make a "living."  Completing a degree with the Colorado Institute of Art gave her the confidence in knowing that what she had been creating from the heart had the essence of good design.  She has studied under Dennis R. Pendleton and Ken Velastro with the Art Students League of Denver.  Colette studied under Chuck Ceraso whose lineage traces back to the French and American Impressionists through his teacher, Henry Hensche, who studied under Charles  Hawthorne, who studied with Claude Monet.  Experiencing the ambiance and absolute beauty of Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, and Switzerland, Colette felt compelled to paint what she fell in love with.  Her painting process starts with an emotional connection with the image and begins on an appropriate size canvas.  Her award winning style has landed her commissioned paintings of Europe, pet portraits and Colorado landscapes.  She has also been called upon to jury several exhibits.  Colette is the featured artist in the 2006 November issue of North Light Book Club magazine as the "Member of the Issue."  "It is when we, as artists, connect with our Divine Maker's intention, then finally realize the purpose of what we're doing," she says. "I'm on a path meant to be and will stay the course."

Special Instructions

The title, "Thunder," is for the thundering sounds of his ancestoral bison across the North American continent in the 1800's.  Herds were often 20 miles wide and 60 miles long, numbering in the hundreds of thousands.
