Hannah Marie Ivancie, a student in Austin, Texas explains, "This mask is meant to portray the most colorful season in the beautiful state of Colorado, the fall. As a child growing up in the wilderness of northern Colorado, I was always captivated by the aspens, as they seemingly continued on forever, all connected in some way or another by a complex root system.  The knots on the facade of each tree, in all different sizes and varieties, always looked like abstracted faces to me, rendering the inspiration for this face mask."
