Description

Mask Artist Michelle Manquen states, "I am a self-taught artist with over 20 years experience in my field.  My three years spent working and living on a boat and traveling the world have greatly influenced my style.  This is reflected in my use of color and form."

"I cut and layer the glass and include torch-manipulated strings of glass that I combine to achieve the final piece.  The piece is fired to 1465 degrees over a period of 24 hours.  I then remove the piece from the kiln and finish the edges and drill holes if necessary.   The piece is placed on a form that I have made specifically for the piece and fired again over 24 hours."

"Many of the pieces are combined with tig-welded steel that I then make into sculptures and wall hung pieces.  I have won several awards  and numerous galleries currently represent me across the nation.  I have done several commission pieces including a large installation for Federico Pena.  I live in Evergreen with my husband and two daughters."
