Affectionately known as one of San Francisco's hidden gems, Gitane's interior exhibits the sexy playfulness of a 1930's cabaret, the swagger of Serge Gainsbourg, and the audacious spirit of the 70's disco era. Chef team and husband and wife duo Bridget Batson and Patrick Kelly serve an updated contemporary Spanish menu that looks to Andalusia for gastronomic inspiration, spotlighting the southern regions of Spain. The menu changes seasonally to reflect the bounty of flavor profiles and distinctive regional influences from culinary-rich cities such as Seville, Andalusia to Valencia. The five-course regional tasting menu and a la carte menu will be available in the upstairs dining room. Gitane is also home to one of the largest selections of sherry in the Bay Area, and features an exciting collection of Spanish wines.
At Gitane you can enjoy three distinct dining experiences. Within the clandestine interior of the upstairs dining room, guests can enjoy the full Gitane dining experience with a new seasonally changing, regional five-course tasting menu and rotating a la carte menu. Guests seated at the bar or outside in the bistro tables can enjoy a more casual dining experience with the "compartir"sharing menu. The shareable menu is meant to enjoy amongst friends, family, and colleagues, highlighting one of the most time-honored Spanish traditions of eating well, with laughter and conversation.
