 He is not the quickest,

houndstown ever saw

but the thickest and the coolest

under-pressure paw.

who e're dare droolest

and e're dare draw

this side 'o Basset county law,

We had our doubts,

all right, and talked about how

His Stoutness would get out

in all his squatness (qua

squatness) in all high noon's

dusty and deadly hotness as

the long paw of the law.

But His Shortness was a fortress and

the only thing we saw

was his opposition draw

and then fall dead.

Not twenty seconds after noon

his Roundaboutness did

another shot, at the saloon.
