Paul Cheatham was a 22 year old student at UC Santa Cruz and working with abused children at Juvenile Hall. He was searching for peace, fairness and justice but it seemed like corporations providing jobs and products that fueled society, ironically were out to get as much as they could for themselves and leave the people, earth and oceans to pay the price. Paul wanted to fight the system but stillness and reflection trumped plans of destruction when the timeless idea of No Enemy came to mind.
After the tragedies of September 11, 2001 Paul offered $100 prize, raised through vegan bake sales, for a visual image that expressed No Enemy. Respondents all shared positive interpretations of the No Enemy Message and the Original No Enemy symbol was formed. Paul ordered 144 organic cotton, made in the USA T-shirts and had the Original No Enemy symbol screen printed on them, he circulated the shirts between sociology classes at UC Santa Cruz and peace rallies in San Francisco. Eco Goods the local organic general store offered No Enemy clothing shelf space. Inumerable kind souls helped to build the No Enemy organization. Today No Enemy is seen worldwide.
In July of 2013 The No Enemy Center was opened to provide space for community meditation and personal growth through relaxation, reflection and the manifestation of No Enemy. The No Enemy center is located at space #58 in the Old Sash Mill, 303 Potrero Street near Downtown Santa Cruz. The current community meditation schedule is below. Please arrive 10 minutes before meditation starts. If you can bring a donation or a piece of fruit for the teacher it is greatly appreciated ~ Private sessions are also available and can be scheduled by calling (831) 345-6935 or emailing paul@noenemy.org.
