Description
They are forever joined at the hip in baseball lore. The 1951 National League Pennant came down to one game pitting the New York Giants with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning Bobby Thomson of the Giants stepped to the plate with two runners on to face Ralph Branca of the Dodgers.
After taking the first pitch for a strike Thomson delivered a fastball about five rows deep into the seats. Thomson's home run gave the Giants a 5-4 walk-off victory clinched the Pennant and sent the Giants to the World Series. It is one of the biggest home runs in baseball history commonly referred to as the Shot Heard Round the World.
Ralph Branca and Bobby Thomson have each hand signed this framed 8x10 photograph commemorating the historic home run. In addition Thomson has added the inscription of 10/3/51 to the piece. In the photo Jackie Robinson looks on as Thomson rounds the bases. A Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity is included.
