Description

"Knowledge" is a sculpture that is hand-sculpted out of clay. It is then cast in bronze, which is a two-mold process*. The sculpture is 5" tall, 8" long, and 3" wide. It rests on a polished walnut stand that swivels.

Artist Bonnie Knickerbocker began painting at the age of ten. She graduated from The Corcoran School of Art at George Washington University in 1965. From there she traveled to London, England and Madrid, Spain before settling in Sydney Australia. This five year period was a profound stimulus for Bonnie. The influence of Alberto Giacometti, Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele as well as the German Expressionists came from her mentor, Jack Yates, a London artist.

Never content to stay with one medium, she moves between painting, clay, raku, assemblages and now bronze. The mediums are really intertwined, she says. One must always push into novel territory just for the sake of the challenge and the unknown which can be somewhat scary but ultimately worth the effort.

Special Instructions

*The two-mold process of casting the sculpture in bronze can last up to 4 months. Bidder should note that because of this, the sculpture will not be ready by Christmas.

The sculpture will be delivered to buyer by the artist upon completion.
