Three beautiful works of art by professional photographer, the late Dorothy Holby. two 8x10's and one 5x7. Dorothy was born in Chicago in 1922 and grew up in Oak Park, IL. She attended Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio. she taught Spanish at Northeastern Illinois College in Chicago until 1978. Growing up, her family always had cats. After retiring from teaching, she took several drawing and photography classes and acquired a cat. She exhibited many paintings and photographs at the Oakbrook Art Show during the 1980's and 90's. She began to specialize in photographing cats and produced thousands of images including almost every breed. She submitted photographs to magazines and calendar companies and found her photos very well received. furing the 1980's her photos were used in hundreds of calendars and numerous magazine covers. She was a regular contributor to Cat Fancy magazine. In addition she was an author. She published over fifty articles on cat behavior and cat photography. She passed away at age 90 in 2012 with two cats by her side. She and her husband Eric establised a foundation which helps fund animal welfare causes.
