Description
Tickets for Two (2) to experience Britten's War Requiem on Sunday November 24th, 2013, 8 PM, Renee & Henry Segerstom Concert Hall.
A mere two days after what would have been Composer Benjamin Britten’s 100th birthday, James Conlon, music director of the Los Angeles Opera, brings a massive troupe of more than 300 artists (including an organist) to bring Britten’s colossal War Requiem to life. Written as an anti-war appeal, Britten used traditional Latin text interspersed with poems of World War I poet Wilfred Owen, who was tragically killed at age 25, a mere week before the Armistice. A work with a powerful message, the War Requiem is one of the most stunning musical creations of the 20th century.
