Description

This selection is one of a set of studies by artist Hans-Gerd Mehrtens, part of the Chicago and San Francisco art scene from 1984 until his death in 1994.

About the Print (1981)

In a style reminiscent of Wassily Kandinsky, vivid lines emphasize the subject strength of the central image This strong iconography drifts to the subtle shading employed to explore the supporting characters. Though the silhouettes studied are clearly arranged in differing poses, the viewer's eye cannot help but dance back and forth seeking the progression from the central figure. The characters share a dynamic with a third character in the study—the environment, with a curved surface and distant cityscape enticing the viewer further into the study.

The artist’s signature and date of the study authenticate the piece. Print is matted, suitable for framing. Size is 21.5” x 21.5”
