For nearly a century, the landmark address of 2100 Van Ness Avenue has hosted some of the finest meals on the West Coast. When Harris' Restaurant opened in 1984, in the old location of Grisons, it continued the rich tradition of luxurious dining in a warm, comfortable, sophisticated environment.

The lush atmosphere of dark wood, high ceilings with brass chandeliers and large leather booths is host to two dining rooms and a lounge: the main dining room with a formal quiet atmosphere, a casual dining room, and a spacious luxurious lounge accompanied by a large Bruswick bar offering nightly live jazz music and dining for guests without reservations.

In 1984, Ann Lee Harris decided to open what would become San Francisco's classic American steakhouse.  Her vision was to create an atmosphere of traditional elegance and charm for San Franciscans and visitors alike to experience a time gone by.

Goetz Boje, her partner in business for many years, created a menu using only the finest Mid-Western Angus beef available. The beef is corn-fed and dry-aged on the premises for three weeks.  The dry aging process brings out the fullest flavor from the beef, which is then prepared over a Mesquite grill.  Executive Chef Michael Buhagiar has been with the restaurant since opening day, and his attention to detail and his knowledge of fine dining is evident in everything he does.
