Description
Bidding will be for a pair of passes for a guided tour of the colorful murals in San Francisco’s Mission District.
Precita Eyes Mural Arts and Visitors Center, located in San Francisco's Mission District, was established in 1977. As a multipurpose, community-based arts organization, Precita Eyes has played an integral role in the city's cultural heritage and arts education. It has a direct impact on arts education in the Mission District by offering four weekly art classes for children and youth, 18 months - 19 years old. These classes and community mural projects enable children and young adults to develop their individuality and confidence through creative activities, and to experience unifying, positive social interaction through collaboration. Classes are also offered for adults.
One of only three community mural centers in the United States, the organization sponsors and implements ongoing mural projects internationally, as well as throughout the Bay Area.
Precita Eyes Mural Arts and Visitors Center offers three tour options:
• The Mission Trail Public Murals Walk, which covers the Mission District’s murals along Mission Street and the 24th Street corridor
• The 16thStreet Mission Mural Walk, which is offered on the first Saturday of every month
• And mural tours by appointment
